James Street Improvement District

Neighborhood Block Captain Program

A neighborhood can be defined by, but not limited to - geographic boundaries, common links such as a school or a park, or just a group of people in a particular area sharing resources and common interests.

Within the James Street Improvement District, we find that most neighborhood groups identify with neighbors/stakeholders within their block for communicating important information.

The James Street Improvement District (JSID) stays in close contact with neighborhood Block Captains in the Northwest neighborhoods and Downtown area of Lancaster City.

If a your block or area is not yet organized, JSID can help by providing a map and County data for your target neighborhood area; help volunteers organize/ facilitate a meeting if needed and assist in solving quality of life issues on an ongoing basis. In addition, JSID sends out important neighborhood information that is helpful to share through neighborhood email networks.

To find out who your neighborhood Block Captain is or to volunteer to serve as a Block Captain, please call or email JSID at 717-394-0783 or shelbyrnauman@jsidlancaster.org
